Thanks to UR2FAT from NZHondas.com for this excellent clarification to really bring the answer to those who don’t know the difference between VTEC and Turbo.
Yes VTEC is some sort of turbo, it stands for Vertical Turbo Entry Control, basically it means that the air intake of the turbo is controlled by a vertically mounted butterfly valve. Yes you can put a BOV on to a VTEC car, any BOV will suit as long as you have it mounted to the left of the butterfly valve so you don’t lose any intake manifold pressure.
Not a lot of people have aftermarket BOV’s on their Hondas because it is very expensive to get a mounting adapter made up (around $700) and the factory BOV is sufficient. If you did have a BOV on your VTEC Honda it will make a very different sound to normal BOV’s. Its a sort of “wwwwwwwteeeesshhhhhhhhhhhh” sound as oposed to the normal “pshh” sound, it really does sound cool.
You can increase the amount of boost your VTEC car is running by buying a VTEC controller. Most Hondas run about 14psi of boost which is quite a lot compared to other turbo cars, but the Hondas can handle up to about 25psi before you have to stregnthen the internals. I hope this helps and again I apologise on behalf of the people who don’t really know what they are talking about.

This afternoon I popped over to my partners house to find an all to familiar Integra Type R sitting in the driveway which belonged to a friend of her brothers.
5 weeks of intense preparation, smacking heads against brick walls and muckarounds it’s all paneled and painted.
On the outside, the colour is an OEM mix from the Mazda 6 Sedan. Exterior, Interior Door Jams, Engine bay – the lot! Compared to most other grey/gunmetal colours, it has a deep shine and a very bluey/graphite finish. The aero consists of a CWEST Style front bumper, ZEAL Sideskirts and a ZEAL Rear Apron. Definatly a very visually appealing combo.
Inside the engine bay is a symphony of chrome fittings, silicone hoses, a big aluminium radiator and a…..GT3540 Turbocharger w/AR70 trim! Easily a 300+fwkw beast. Got wheelspin? equipped with 17″ T1R tyres you’d hope you could get at least a bit of traction through the gears.
